  • The municipal registration law stipulates that all overnight guests must be registered with the relevant authorities for the duration of their stay. Therefore, all guests aged 6 and over, who are staying in the Lenk-Simmental region overnight, are required to pay a tourist / visitor’s tax. For stays at hotels or vacation rentals, guests pay this tax directly to the host, who then settles it with the relevant authorities. Upon payment of the tourist / visitor’s tax, each guest receives a guest card (the Simmental Card) for the respective number of nights, which allows free travel with local public transportation and offers discounts for various activities in the region.

The municipalities as well as the Lenk-Simmental Tourism are constantly investing in the area’s tourism offering to maintain the highest standards possible. In addition to regular tax revenues, tourist taxes also contribute to this purpose – as those revenues are used to promote local tourism facilities and development in the region.
